About the OWASP Gen AI Security Project:

The OWASP Gen AI Security Project is dedicated to identifying, mitigating, and raising awareness of security risks in generative AI systems. As part of our Outreach & Marketing Committee, we are looking for a dedicated Newsletter & Social Media Marketing Lead to enhance our communication efforts, engage our community, and amplify our mission across digital platforms.

Role Overview:

As the Newsletter & Social Media Marketing Lead, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the project’s newsletters, social media channels, and outreach efforts. This role is ideal for someone passionate about AI security, open-source initiatives, and community-driven projects who wants to contribute their marketing expertise to a global effort.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and distribute a monthly newsletter featuring project updates, industry news, and community highlights.
• Manage and grow the project’s presence on social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.), ensuring regular engagement with the community.
• Create and schedule engaging content (posts, graphics, announcements, etc.) to increase visibility and awareness.
• Collaborate with the Outreach & Marketing Committee to refine messaging and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Track engagement metrics and optimize strategies based on analytics.
• Support marketing campaigns for events, webinars, and collaborations with industry leaders.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience in social media management, digital marketing, or content creation (volunteer or professional).
• Strong writing and communication skills with an ability to create compelling and informative content.
• Familiarity with AI security, cybersecurity, or open-source communities (preferred, but not required).
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a remote team.
• Comfortable using tools like Mailchimp, Buffer, Canva, Hootsuite, or similar for content scheduling and newsletter distribution.
• Enthusiastic about engaging with a technical community and promoting cybersecurity awareness.
