About the OWASP Gen AI Security Project:

The OWASP Gen AI Security Project is dedicated to identifying and mitigating security risks in generative AI systems. As part of our Outreach & Marketing Committee, we are seeking a dedicated Events Lead to help coordinate virtual and physical events, ensuring meaningful engagement and community growth.

Role Overview:

As the Events Lead, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and promoting events such as webinars, conference presentations, workshops, and networking meetups related to generative AI security. This role is ideal for someone passionate about event management, community building, and cybersecurity who wants to contribute to a global open-source initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage virtual events (e.g., webinars, panel discussions, online workshops).
• Assist in organizing physical meetups, conference talks, and networking events in collaboration with industry partners.
• Develop and maintain an event calendar to ensure strategic planning and promotion.
• Collaborate with speakers, panelists, and subject-matter experts to organize engaging discussions.
• Work closely with the Newsletter & Social Media Lead to promote upcoming events and increase attendance.
• Manage event logistics, including registration, platforms (Zoom, YouTube, etc.), and post-event follow-ups.
• Collect and analyze event feedback and engagement metrics to improve future events.
• Identify opportunities for OWASP Gen AI Security Project representation at conferences and industry gatherings.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience in event planning, virtual event coordination, or community engagement (volunteer or professional).
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple events.
• Familiarity with AI security, cybersecurity, or open-source communities (preferred but not required).
• Comfortable using virtual event platforms (Zoom, Hopin, YouTube Live, etc.) and ticketing tools (Eventbrite, Meetup, etc.).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to outreach.
• Enthusiastic about bringing people together to discuss AI security and related topics.
